In the penultimate game of the CONMEBOL qualification, Ecuador were unable to infiltrate the Paraguay goal leading to a goalless draw. Both teams displayed impressive defensive ability and sent a message to opponents that they will be hard to breakdown.
In an eventful final game against Argentina, Ecuador shocked the world by defeating Argentina 1-0. The games only goal came from Enner Valencia from the penalty spot at 45'+13. The game also had 2 red cards, one for each team. The match was a true spectacle and Ecuador's performance was a testament to their talent and determination.
